With over 240 student clubs 和 organizations, we highly encourage you to get involved in sustainable clubs 和 organization that our campus has to offer. Getting involved 和 educating yourself is the first step to make a difference. Here are some of the ways members of the Blugold community can play a part in making our campus more sustainable. 

重用 & 回收

• Whenever possible, use a reusable 水 bottle, coffee cup or utensils.
• Ask for 纸 bags instead of 塑料袋 when shopping or bring a reusable bag. 
• Be sure to recycle news纸s, 铝罐, 纸, plastic bottles 和 jugs, 玻璃瓶, 罐子和纸板.
• Some things that do not belong in the recycling bin include Styrofoam, 芯片包, 塑料袋, 纸 towels or napkins, juice or milk cartons 和 lightbulbs.

消费习惯

• Buy locally, if possible, instead of purchasing something further away.
• 买二手! This can include clothing, furniture 和 decor.
• Embrace the minimalist lifestyle. Only buy things when you really need them.

用电

• Use alternatives for heating 和 A/C. Try opening a window or adding layers before activating a heating or A/C system.
• Change your lightbulbs to LED. LED bulbs typically use 75% less 能源.
• Use power strips instead of plugging all appliances into outlets. When you are finished using the appliance, turn off the power strip to save 能源 和 money.

食品消费

• Buy locally sourced food from the farmer's market. Not only are you supporting the community, but small business owners as well.
• Try composting food 浪费.
• Instead of throwing out food, save it for lunch/dinner or freeze it.

运输

• Walk or ride your bike to destinations instead of driving a car.
• Use public transportation through 欧克莱尔 Transit. 
• Carpool with friends 和 utilize the UW 欧克莱尔 Rideshare page on 脸谱网.

Student Office of 可持续性 (SOS)

The purpose of the SOS is to allocate the UW-Eau克莱尔 Green Fund for projects, 项目, 和 events addressing the various sustainability areas of transportation, 能源, 浪费, 气候变化, 水, 食物系统, 校园生态, 教育等.

The purpose of The 保护俱乐部 is to increase awareness of the environment, 和 provide professional development opportunities in the 欧克莱尔 community 和 for the students of the University of Wisconsin - 欧克莱尔. We seek to achieve our goal by implementing h和s-on restoration, ecological education, 和 career development through productive collaboration with other organizations, t在这里by being a part of returning the environment to its natural state.

地理 & 人类学俱乐部, or GAC as we affectionately call it, exists to unite all individuals interested in 地理位置 和 Anthropology. We are a social club for the department 和 have official meetings once a week with other social 和 service events throughout the semester. All interested students are welcome to join us for meetings 和 events.

地质俱乐部

All Geology majors 和 minors are automatically members of the 地质俱乐部. We work to create a collegial environment among our members 和 share love of rocks!
